The entire library team applauds our local community for reading their way through the summer and is especially grateful for the generous donors who supported the program this year.

Since the start of the program, hundreds of patrons have enjoyed the weekly events such as a magician, a juggler, a puppeteer, and the “Snakes Alive handlers.

The library was filled with excited children from toddlers to teens, who were super excited to celebrate the Smokey Bear Birthday Party!

The main goal of the Summer Reading Program is to encourage participants of all ages to read over the summer months. During the gap  between school years, learning loss can occur and can lead to academic struggles in the fall and beyond. Reading activities during the summer are an antidote to that Agnes  Gore  , Lumpkin Library Branch Manager explains.

While the SRP has ended there are still lots to do at the library, including the  “1000 Books before Kindergarten” program, book clubs for all ages. storytime crafts and themed programs. For more information go  to www.chestateelibraryorg.
