OUR LUMPKIN COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY IS VITAL TO OUR COMMUNITY

Upcoming Events

Join us at the Lumpkin County Library for the next in our Authors in the Afternoon Series. In partnership with the Friends of the Lumpkin Library, we will be hosting an author event on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.This is a free series of presentations by local authors who will be on hand to talk about one or more of their books.

Our featured author for this event will be Ms. Tommye McClure Scanlin, a local resident and renound tapestry weaver and art educator. Ms. Scanlin will be at the library talking about her two published books on the topic of Tapestry Design and Weaving. As a special treat, Ms. Scanlin will be displaying some of the samples of her woven tapestries the day of the event. All are welcome to stay after the presentation for the October  Friends of the Library meeting.

Our public library is more than just books.  It’s a community learning center, a place to go to search for a job, trace your family history, or meet with your book club or community organization.  It’s a place to go for entertainment where you can check out the latest novels, games, DVDs, and more! Our library is a place to learn and have fun!

Our public library is the heart of a living, engaged community; a source of unbiased and open access to knowledge, entertainment, and enlightenment.  It's a neighborhood to all citizens without  regard to age, income or background. Our library complements and enhances the educational, historical and cultural opportunities available and serves as a gathering place to all members of Lumpkin County.
