Falcons flew, snakes slithered, and magic was in the air during our children’s weekly programs this summer.
Our teens painted portraits of animals awaiting adoption at the Lumpkin County Animal shelter and celebrated summer by pelting each other with water balloons during the annual teen water wars.

Adults got into the act by completing word puzzles, coloring special quilt squares and reading great book selections. The library was buzzing with  activity all summer long as visitors could participate in the summer reading program, do  a library scavenger hunt, or grab one of our great take & make crafts to do at home.

We had 193 children register for this year’s SRP, and they read a total of 228, 328  minutes; 29 teens registered and read a total of 234 books; 162 Adults signed up to log  their reading and enter to win the grand prize.

Our total program attendance was 1445 for the children’s programs and 100 for the teen programs.
The library was pleased to be able to offer two program performances during the month of June this year, and we  offered enhanced teen programs as well. This enabled us to accommodate more patrons that could enjoy the shows in our great meeting room.

Tracey Thomaswick, Library Branch Manager, said of "The  SRP would not be possible without the wonderful support of our community partners." The FOL recently made a donation of $ 4500.00 to cover any remaining needs for 2023 and give us a head start for  2024.
